Teacher Sells ads on Test papers
That is brilliant with a capital ILLIANT! A high school teacher in San Diego has a plan to overcome shortfalls in budget. He sells advertising space on its audit work. Are you kidding me? This is so simple. I can not believe nobody thought of before. The teacher’s name is Tom Farber, and he receives an “A-plus” from me for thinking outside the box to the shortcomings of the government funding despicable. According to the story in the U.S. today:
San Diego Magazine and the San Diego Union-Tribune Featured his plan shortly before Thanksgiving, and Farber came home a few days out of the city to 75 e-mail requests for ads. So far he has collected $ 350. His last semester is sold out.
Believe it or not, there is resistance to the action plan Farber. Again quoting from the USA Today article:
Worries that Robert Weissman, director of Commercial Alert, a Washington-based non-profit fighting the commercialization in schools and elsewhere. IF test-paper-as-billboards catches on, he says, the schools in the grip of the difficult economic times could be on them to the bottom line.
My answer - and the problem is …? What is wrong with the sale of advertising space on audit work? Regulation of advertising. Make sure that McDonald’s, Pepsi, Hardee, MTV, etc. are not allowed to buy ads if you are concerned about the corruption of students malleable mind, but I think it would be a sin, this source of revenue away from schools and teachers . We have the teachers pay out of pocket for supplies for far too long.
Mr. Weissman, I am sure that you are a nice guy, but you are dead wrong in this case. Let the teachers, their money.
